After the 7.4 magnitude Marmara Earthquake on August 17th, 1999, 4 school buildings in Istanbul were diagnosed by Istanbul Technical University as being under risk of serious damage in the event of another earthquake. Through a protocol signed with the Istanbul Governor’s Office and the Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation, these four schools in Istanbul were reinforced against earthquakes.

ÜMRANİYE / İSTANBUL – Nihat Sami Banarlı Secondary School
After Marmara Earthquake, reinforcement works against earthquakes of the school building were done by Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation. Nahit Sami Banarlı Secondary School host the education of 1.101 students, 59 teachers work and there are 27 classrooms, a conference hall, , a science laboratory, a music class, a painting class and a workshop in the school.

ÜSKÜDAR / İSTANBUL – Mehmet Akif Ersoy Primary School
After Marmara Earthquake, reinforcement works against earthquakes of the school building were done by Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation. Mehmet Akif Ersoy Primary School School host the education of 369 students, 21 teachers work and there are 16 classrooms and a multi-purpose hall in the school.

SİLİVRİ / İSTANBUL – Selimpaşa Primary School

Nahit Sami Banarlı Primary School host the education of 564 students, 26 teachers work and there are 20 classrooms, a conference hall, a science laboratory, a computer laboratory, a library and a workshop in the school.

MALTEPE / İSTANBUL – Nazmi Duhani Primary School
After Marmara Earthquake, reinforcement works against earthquakes of the school building were done by Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation. Nazmi Duhani Primary School School host the education of 195 students, 12 teachers work and there are 11 classrooms in the school.

Sri Lanka Community Center and School
In the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami disasters that occurred in Southeast Asia on December 26th, 2004 financial assistance was provided toward the construction of a school and a community center complex to be built in Sri Lanka for victims of the natural disaster.
Improving Access to Information Technologies in Primary Schools
The Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation supports the “100% Support for Education” campaign initiated by the Ministry of National Education in Turkey and within the context of the campaign, the Foundation met the computer lab needs of all schools in the provinces of Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, and Erzurum by donating 4.000 computers.
