Despite the improvements made in access to basic education in Türkiye, gender disparity at the secondary level remains a challenge. Expanding dormitory facilities for girls at the secondary school level has been the Foundation’s strategy to combat prevailing cultural and economic biases that prevent girls from continuing their schooling beyond the primary level.
The Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation has been providing education access to more than 2,000 female students in quality accommodation with 23 secondary school girls’ dormitories and 1 university dormitory that it has put into service in 20 provinces since 2005.
