The conservation of cultural heritage is part of strategies of socio-economic development and sustainability, since it helps to sustain the existence of the heritage, teaches people about their past culture, shows the continuity of history and strengthen our understanding of a community’s identity. Considering it as part of strategies of socio-economic development and sustainability, the Foundation contributes the conservation of cultural heritage.


Galata Mevlevi House Museum

The construction of the Galata Mevlevi House complex started in 1491, and is the oldest Mevlevi House in Istanbul. Today, this cultural heritage site, visited by many local and international visitors, is a museum affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The Galata Mevlevi House Museum is a complex of buildings and the outdoor surroundings located in an area of approximately 6800 m2. The complex consists of a Sema House, a library, an old laundry, Seyh Galib's and Halet Said's mausoleums, a graveyard called the "garden of silence", a fountain and a cistern. Since 2004, the Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation has conducted preliminary studies, research and a survey for conservation, restoration and the adaptive use of this heritage as a museum. The restoration of the Sema House building took place between 2007 and 2008.

Ayasofya Museum

The construction of the administrative buildings to serve Ayasofya Museum, one of the most significant examples of Turkey’s cultural heritage sites, has been funded by the Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation and was carried out by a partnership with the Turkish Tourism Agencies Association and the Ministry of Culture in 2007.

İstanbul University Conservatory

Contributions were made to the preparation of the architectural and static projects and the ground surveys for the new building for Istanbul University’s State Conservatory at Ataşehir in Istanbul’s Kadıköy district in 2005.
